Deeb, Ph.D. is pleased to announce that a key figure in Trocaire\u2019s commitment to meeting Western New York\u2019s need for well-trained nursing graduates has joined the college. Dr. Ann-Marie John will become the new dean of the <a href=\"https:\/\/trocaire.edu\/academic-program\/nursing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Catherine McAuley School of Nursing<\/a>, effective Sept. 16.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDr. John brings experience, excitement and wisdom to her new role at Trocaire,\u201d said Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Allyson M. Lowe. \u201cAs a leader engaged in healthcare and nursing education, she is committed to our mission as an opportunity college and appreciates the transformational power of education in both her own life and those of her students.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dr. John most recently served as an associate professor of nursing, clinical simulation\/nursing lab director and assistant dean of nursing at Northern Virginia Community College. She has deep connections to the WNY area, having served as assistant professor at Monroe Community College and held a dual appointment at the University of Rochester, where she was a teaching\/clinical associate professor in the School of Nursing and director of ethnic and multicultural affairs for the School of Medicine and Dentistry.<\/p>\n<p>She also served in nursing leadership roles at Strong Memorial Hospital and Rochester General and in the clinical setting as a registered nurse at Brookdale, Mount Sinai and Kings County hospitals.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m excited about the opportunity to actively participate in and join the dynamic healthcare community of the Buffalo region,\u201d Dr. John said. \u201cI believe that building partnerships, hands-on learning, critical thinking and transformation of how we educate students are at the forefront of ensuring that nursing preparation and safe patient care are effectively and efficiently achieved. These factors must be aligned and interconnected with the pursuit of excellence as a shared objective and a focus on professional attentiveness, responsibility and accountability.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A seasoned nurse leader with expertise in diabetes education, Dr. John holds a doctorate from the Medical College of South Carolina; a Master\u2019s of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Rochester; and a Bachelor\u2019s of Science in Nursing degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn.<\/p>\n<p>Her background as an advanced practice nurse includes clinical simulation, online and in-class instruction, health science research, budget management and grants, experience that will well serve the diverse students in Trocaire\u2019s Practical Nursing certificate, associate\u2019s degree (RN) program and online RN to BS in Nursing degree programs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ President Bassam M.
