A loan will help to fill in any financial gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ participates in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The amount of Federal Direct Loan that you have been awarded has been based on your class year as determined by the Admissions Office upon admission. You&nbsp;<strong>must<\/strong>&nbsp;be enrolled at least 6 credit hours during any given semester to be eligible for a Federal Direct Loan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The actual loan amount you will receive is dependent upon the number of credits you have earned or transferred as of the day your loan is certified by the Financial Aid Office. If your loan eligibility changes during the academic year due to credit hours earned or transferred, you must contact our office if you wish to be considered for additional loan funding. This occurs when a parent of a dependent student becomes denied on a Parent PLUS loan credit check. Please&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:finaid@trocaire.edu\">contact<\/a>&nbsp;the Financial Aid Office for further information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parent PLUS loans are available to parents of dependent undergraduate students who are enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours). Parent is responsible for interest during the life of the loan. Maximum amount is cost of attendance minus any other financial aid the student receives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In cases where students do not demonstrate financial need in amounts that would allow for the maximum annual subsidized loan limit, the amount of your Direct Loans would be a combination of subsidized and unsubsidized or entirely unsubsidized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loan eligibility for the Subsidized Direct Loan can be affected by a change in the amount of another award or by the addition of other sources of financial aid (ex. outside scholarships).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 1.057% origination fee will be assessed on your Direct Loans. This means that 98.943% of the Direct Loan will apply to your account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 4.292% origination fee will be assessed on the Direct Parent PLUS Loan. This means that 95.708% of the Parent PLUS loan will apply to your child\u2019s account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have not previously borrowed a Federal Direct Loan, you must complete a Master Promissory Note (E-MPN). First-time borrowers must also complete an Entrance Counseling. Log on to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">studentaid.gov<\/a>&nbsp;to complete the e-MPN and\/or Entrance Counseling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ does not participate in Federal Perkins Loans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"accordion-group-trocaire flex flex-col items-start w-full py-4 accordion-group-block align\" data-block_43832e7b124dbd626d644358311c3ef7>\n            <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-toggle w-full bg-trocaire-red flex items-center flex-row mt-4 p-3 font-bold\">\n        <div class=\"w-full pl-3 leading-8\">Entrance Counseling Instructions<\/div>\n        <i class=\"fas fa-angle-right text-2xl px-2 mt-1\"><\/i>\n      <\/a>\n      <div class=\"w-full pl-6 pr-12 px-2\">\n        <ol>\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/entrance-counseling\">https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/entrance-counseling<\/a>. Click on \u201cStart\u201d for \u201cI am an Undergraduate Student\u201d and enter your FSA ID (user name + password). If you do not remember your FSA ID, log on to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fsaid.ed.gov\">fsaid.ed.gov<\/a> to retrieve it.<\/li>\n<li>You will see a brief overview of the steps needed to complete this counseling. Click \u201cContinue.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select TROCAIRE COLLEGE from the Associated Schools drop down menu. If Trocaire does not appear then search for it by typing NEW YORK in the \u2018Choose a State\u2019 box and TROCAIRE COLLEGE in the \u2018Search School by Name.\u201d Click \u201cContinue\u201d<\/li>\n<li>There are six (6) modules and within each modules are topics that will be explained. Click \u201cStart\u201d for the first module. Each of these modules and topics must be read in their entirety and you must answer everything that is being asked of you.<\/li>\n<li>Module 1: Estimate the Cost of Your Education \u2013 two (2) topics.<\/li>\n<li>Module 2: Paying for Your Education \u2013 three (3) topics.<\/li>\n<li>This includes a mini-quiz testing your knowledge of what you have read.<\/li>\n<li>Module 3: Federal Student Loans \u2013 six (6) topics<\/li>\n<li>NOTE: this module requires you to estimate the total loan amount you will borrow during your career here at Trocaire. There is a default amount entered and it can be adjusted.<\/li>\n<li>This includes a mini-quiz testing your knowledge of what you have read.<\/li>\n<li>Module 4: How Much You Can Expect to Borrow \u2013 four (4) topics<\/li>\n<li>Module 5: Prepare for Repayment After School \u2013 five (5) topics<\/li>\n<li>You can enter your <em>estimated <\/em>total loan balance and annual gross salary \u2013 feel free to adjust both for different scenarios.<\/li>\n<li>This includes a mini-quiz testing your knowledge of what you have read.<\/li>\n<li>Module 6: Consequences of Not Repaying Student Loans \u2013 four (4) topics<\/li>\n<li>At the end of this module you can print\/download a copy of the summary of your Entrance Counseling.<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u2018Submit.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0The Financial Aid Office will receive a confirmation the next business day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n      <\/div>\n                <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-toggle w-full bg-trocaire-red flex items-center flex-row mt-4 p-3 font-bold\">\n        <div class=\"w-full pl-3 leading-8\">Exit Counseling Instructions<\/div>\n        <i class=\"fas fa-angle-right text-2xl px-2 mt-1\"><\/i>\n      <\/a>\n      <div class=\"w-full pl-6 pr-12 px-2\">\n        <ol>\n<li>Go to <u><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/mpn\/\">https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/mpn\/<\/a>.<\/u> Click on the blue \u201cLog in to Start for MPN for Subsidized\/Unsubsidized Loans. You will need your FSA ID (username + password). If you do not remember your FSA ID, log on to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fsaid.ed.gov\">fsaid.ed.gov<\/a> to retrieve it.<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u2018Start\u2019 for \u201cI\u2019m an Undergraduate Student.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Step 1 &#8211; Information &#8211; please make sure your information is correct and that you fill in ALL fields.<strong>**Please remember to click on the checkbox indicating that the address you entered is our permanent address.**<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Under School Information: select state (NY) and school (Ä¢¹½´«Ã½). Click the \u2018Continue\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<li>Step 2 &#8211; References, you will need:<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) names of people you will keep in contact with in case you move.<\/li>\n<li>Addresses (both physical and electronic), phone numbers for these people.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u2018Continue\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<li>Step 3 \u2013 Agreements \u2013 There are five sections <strong><u>you must read.<\/u><\/strong> Click \u2018Continue.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Step 4 \u2013 Review &amp; Edit \u2013 please make sure your information is correct. <strong><u>You must read each section<\/u><\/strong>. Click \u2018Continue.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Step 5 \u2013 Sign &amp; Submit \u2013 click the box certifying you have read, understand and agree to the terms &amp; conditions. Type your name as it appears on the top of your screen next to Borrower and click the \u2018Submit\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<li>The next page will state \u201cYou have successfully submitted your MPN&#8230;\u201d<\/li>\n<li>You can then click on the blue \u2018View\/download PDR Document.\u201d You will need Adobe Acrobat reader to view the PDF which is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/\">www.adobe.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n      <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alternative Loan Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important Information Regarding Lenders<\/strong><br>Ä¢¹½´«Ã½&#8217;s Financial Aid Office is utilizing ElmSelect, a loan comparison website,&nbsp;to provide our students with a list of lenders that we recommend. We&nbsp;have adhered to specific criteria to assist students and families in receiving excellent customer service and quality loan products in the loan selection process. The criteria include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>competitive rates,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>borrower benefits,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>repayment terms &amp; options<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>customer service,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>problem resolution and technical support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ is required to review the list annually to verify the terms given.
