To attain the certificate participants attend three mandatory sessions and choose four additional sessions from a list of supplemental workshops. \u00a0These workshops are led by experts in their respective topics. Students, faculty and staff may attend any of the sessions even if not participating in the certificate program.<\/p>\n\n  <\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Cultural Competency Certificate (C3)<\/strong>&nbsp;program is intended to increase the knowledge, sensitivity and skills in cross-cultural interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key components of Cultural Competence are knowledge gathering, skill-building, and community integration. The skills learned in the C3 program will aid participants in their chosen career, and as members of an inclusive community. Participants will have the skills to participate in a diverse workplace and care for the whole person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Areas of training include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduction to cultural competency and cultural humility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intermediate level workshop to cultural competency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Panel on race, ethnicity and culture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LGBTQIAP+ cultural competency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disability and accessibility competency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gender and sexism competency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Socioeconomic power, privilege, and oppression<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Competency on a specific religious belief each semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Earn the Cultural Competency Certificate:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three mandatory workshops in the C3 program, and participants must also complete four of the additional workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The C3 Program is meant to be done over 1-2 years. All workshops to complete the curriculum will be offered every semester. Participants are welcome to complete the certificate in a time frame that fits their schedules, taking up to two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: Sessions can be taken out of order&#8211;Introduction and Intermediate Cultural Competence&#8211;do not need to be taken before other sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mandatory workshops (Knowledge):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>C3 Introductory Course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>C3 Intermediate Course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Racial Justice Panel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Supplemental workshops (Skills):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accessibility and Ability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gender and Sexism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Religion, Faith, &amp; Spirituality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocacy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LGBTQIAP+<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tough Conversations with Kids<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Microaggressions, Bias, Intersectionality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Racial Healing Circles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Integration:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Students<\/strong>: After completing the courses students will be required to work with the Student Life Office to host a program that will provide information to the campus about a cultural organization of their choice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Employees<\/strong>: After completing the courses staff will be required to submit a two page reflection on how they could incorporate what they learned in the program to their work at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Knowledge<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Participants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop and advance self-awareness of their own identity and culture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gain knowledge of cultural characteristics, history, values, beliefs, and behaviors of another cultural group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Skills<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Participants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Foster effective interpersonal , culturally centered communication techniques<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respond skillfully to cultural bias in both themselves and others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Integrate<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Participants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Incorporate the skills and knowledge obtained through the program into their work and lives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enrollment information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Enrollment is&nbsp;<em><strong>free<\/strong><\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To enroll in the program please complete the registration form below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sisters of Mercy: Critical Concerns&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sisters of Mercy were founded out of a deep concern for persons who are poor.
